ACT ONE:
The movie opens with Felicia Hardy shortly after the events of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Sinister Six. The city is still reeling, and Felicia is on her own, detached from the chaos surrounding Oscorp. Having worked as Harry Osborn’s assistant, Felicia faces a tough situation. Oscorp is in shambles. Harry has transformed into the Green Goblin. Felicia grapples with the sudden collapse of her life as she knew it.
We see her at the window of her run-down apartment, reflecting on the mess she’s left behind. Her career at Oscorp is over, and she has no connections or family left to turn to. She’s lost, disillusioned, and bitter—frustrated with how her life has turned out. Felicia’s resolve to never be someone else’s pawn begins to harden in these moments.
Through flashbacks, we learn about Felicia’s father, Walter Hardy, who was a skilled thief. Walter was a major asset to Silvermane’s crime syndicate due to his exceptional burglary talents. He worked for Silvermane, stealing valuable assets for the crime syndicate. However, for Felicia’s sake, he tried to leave the life of crime behind and go legitimate. Silvermane, viewing Walter’s departure as a potential threat, set him up. Walter was arrested, and Silvermane orchestrated his death in prison to prevent him from exposing his operations. Felicia always believed her father’s downfall was due to his own mistakes. However, she soon learns there is much more to the story.
Desperate for control, Felicia starts small-time heists. She uses her previous knowledge as an Oscorp insider. Her resourcefulness helps her steal valuable tech and secrets from Oscorp research stations. She operates purely out of self-interest, determined to never be under the thumb of another powerful figure like Harry Osborn.
In these early scenes, we get sensory-rich details. We hear Felicia’s quiet breath in the cold night air. We notice the hum of security alarms. We also hear the satisfying clicks as she cracks a vault. These elements immerse the audience in her meticulous and calculated approach to each job.
During one of her heists targeting Silvermane’s operations, Felicia uncovers documents. These documents reveal that Silvermane was directly responsible for her father’s death. She learns that Walter had been trying to go legitimate for her sake. However, Silvermane orchestrated his imprisonment. He murdered Walter to protect his empire. This revelation transforms Felicia’s motivations from selfish survival to personal vengeance.
She decides to adopt her father’s former identity—the Black Cat. This time, she is not just a thief. She is a woman intent on taking down Silvermane’s entire empire.
Early glimpses of Felicia’s internal struggle are shown. After one heist that causes unintended harm to an innocent bystander, Felicia returns to her hideout. She reflects on her father’s keepsake—a locket—and questions whether her path of revenge is the right one. These moments of vulnerability hint at her deeper conflict between justice and revenge.
ACT TWO
Now driven by a thirst for revenge, Felicia continues her previous training in acrobatics, stealth, and combat. She uses her father’s old contacts. She upgrades his tech with the Oscorp tech she had stolen earlier in the movie. She creates her Black Cat persona with these resources. It is complete with gadgets and a sleek suit that enables her to strike Silvermane’s empire from the shadows.
Her heists become more dangerous and calculated, targeting Silvermane’s finances, strongholds, and key operations. Felicia’s attacks escalate, and she leaves behind her calling card—the Black Cat symbol—taunting Silvermane at each crime scene.
Silvermane, infuriated by the attacks, enlists his niece, Silver Sable, a skilled mercenary from Symkaria. Silver Sable is loyal to family but indifferent to her uncle’s criminal empire.
In their first encounter, Felicia and Silver Sable engage in a brief but intense battle. The fight is fast-paced. Sensory details highlight the clash of steel and the shimmer of sparks as weapons collide. Felicia’s heart pounds as she narrowly escapes.
Silver Sable’s relentlessness sets the stage for the movie’s key cat-and-mouse dynamic. Silver Sable is intent on hunting Felicia down. Meanwhile, Felicia remains focused on dismantling Silvermane’s operations.
As the film progresses, we subtly see Silver Sable’s growing disillusionment with her uncle. She begins to question Silvermane’s motives, especially after learning the truth about Walter Hardy’s death. During a second confrontation with Felicia, Silver Sable challenges her, asking why she’s so fixated on destroying Silvermane.
Felicia reveals the truth about her father’s murder, planting seeds of doubt in Silver Sable’s loyalty. This conversation is brief, but it triggers Silver Sable’s gradual shift from blind loyalty to understanding Felicia’s cause.
Meanwhile, Hammerhead, Silvermane’s right-hand man, starts plotting to overthrow his boss. In a private meeting, Silvermane dismisses Hammerhead’s ideas for dealing with the Black Cat, belittling him. This sparks Hammerhead’s ambition to take control of the syndicate himself.
Hammerhead’s sabotage of Silvermane’s defenses begins gradually—he withholds information and allows Felicia’s attacks to weaken Silvermane.
As Felicia’s attacks on Silvermane escalate, MJ Watson is seen investigating the growing conflict between Silvermane’s syndicate and Black Cat. Her articles on the crime families gain more prominence. They show her determination as a journalist. She is willing to take on dangerous stories.
MJ’s presence is woven into the story through key moments of her reporting. She attends press conferences. She interviews law enforcement. She writes exposés.
ACT THREE
The climax centers on Felicia’s final heist. She breaks into Silvermane’s mansion to steal the one piece of evidence proving he ordered her father’s death. It is a recording of the conversation where Silvermane gave the order to kill Walter Hardy.
The mansion is heavily fortified. Felicia must navigate through layers of security. She battles both Silver Sable and Hammerhead’s forces. Footsteps echo in dimly lit corridors. The cold weight of the recording device is in Felicia’s hand. These sensory details immerse the audience in the tension of the heist.
As Felicia infiltrates the mansion, Hammerhead launches his coup, leading to chaos as his forces clash with Silvermane’s loyalists. Hammerhead’s betrayal has been building throughout the film, and now he seizes the moment to take over the syndicate.
Amid the chaos, Felicia maintains focus on her goal—retrieving the evidence—while evading both Hammerhead’s and Silvermane’s men.
During her final confrontation with Felicia, Silver Sable’s doubts reach a breaking point. Felicia tells Silver Sable the full story of her father’s death. Silver Sable finally realizes that her uncle’s empire is built on lies and betrayal.
Silver Sable feels torn between loyalty to her family and her growing respect for Felicia’s fight. She decides to let Felicia go. This moment marks her transformation from a loyal enforcer to someone who questions the very foundation of her family’s legacy.
Felicia retrieves the evidence that would expose Silvermane’s crimes and vindicate her father. She decides not to keep it for herself. Instead, she turns it over to MJ Watson. She recognizes that MJ’s platform at the Daily Bugle will be more effective at bringing down Silvermane.
MJ publishes the story, exposing Silvermane’s crimes to the world. Silvermane is arrested, betrayed by Hammerhead and his men. MJ’s expose establishes her as a rising star in journalism.
In the final scene, Felicia reflects on the journey she’s been through. She stands atop a building, gazing out over the city. She’s achieved justice for her father, but there’s a quiet vulnerability in her posture as she contemplates what’s next.
Post Credit Scene
The post-credits scene opens with Spider-Man swinging through the city. He is on his usual patrol when he spots a break-in at a high-end jewelry store. He lands, ready to stop the robber. However, he is surprised to find Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat, already inside. She is casually holding a diamond in her hand.
Felicia smirks as she tosses the diamond in the air, her movements smooth and confident. “I didn’t expect to see you here, Spider. I thought I’d gotten ahead of you.”
Spider-Man, slightly caught off guard by her confidence, replies with a grin. “You’re not as sneaky as you think.” Felicia circles him, playful and flirtatious. “Oh, I think I’m plenty sneaky. Maybe next time you’ll catch me. If you’re lucky.”
Before Spider-Man can respond, Felicia flips gracefully out of the window and disappears into the night. Spider-Man watches her go, both intrigued and amused, before swinging after her.
